Dr. Thomas Lodi’s musings as a Philosopher

There is no consent...

Life happens.

Existence simply "is"

There is no "will" other than the Tao ... the "will of God"

We don't give our consent to be born and neither do we give our consent to breathe or digest ...

we are born into a family and culture with a specific body....the 'drama' has been written, the stage designed, and we were created to perform these roles and we all do academy award level performances playing our respective characters...

The universe is incomprehensibly ordered… There is no room for disorder or randomness otherwise the majestic, celestial globes would spin out of orbit and suns would collide with one another.

All that ever happened and all that ever will happen is absolutely necessary… Otherwise it would not, could not happen… By definition "necessity" is that which happens… It is the only course that nature can take… It is hardwired into the fabric of nature… When water is running downhill, the course that it takes is taken out of absolute necessity and could not be any other way… And so it is with the rest of the universe....all that happens, must happen in order for the universe to function as it does....there is nothing random.

"Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?"
Ecclesiastes 7:13

"If you try to change it, you will ruin it. Try to hold it, and you will lose it"
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

"'Tao' existed before primordial time, before the universe was formed.
It is the origin of the world, and it therefore nurtures all creatures and beings.
Since Tao is unchangeable and does not evolve with time, it is the ultimate truth.
It is what all saints and sages throughout human history have been searching for."

Matthew 6:28-34
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

“No kind of calamity occurs except by Allah’s permission. Whoever believes in Allah, He will guide his heart. Allah has knowledge of all things.” (Qur’an, 64:11)

These passages require that the reader read them early in the morning before the mind becomes too noisy… Otherwise, we are not truly listening when we read… But rather we are in interpreting and categorizing and comparing, etc.

These readings cannot be cursory… Because the understanding is fundamental
